Yvonne Anastasion Laxman Billings

June 6, 1928 — May 23, 2014

Beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt and friend, Yvonne passed away at her home on May 23, 2014 with loved ones at her side.
Yvonne was born in Surrey, England June 6, 1928 to Andre and Marie Mead Anastasion. Yvonne, her brother Andre and sister Deanne immigrated to America in 1946. They joined their parents, younger brother Paul and sister Angela in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Yvonne married Arthur G. Laxman October 4, 1947. They had 28 special years together and were blessed with 3 sons, Scott, Brent and Paul. Arthur sadly and suddenly died April 12, 1975.
Yvonne married Glen A. Billings in 1978. Later divorced, they remained good friends until Glen died October 16, 2010. Yvonne and her sons were close to Glen’s children, Stanley, Glenn, Kimberly and Randall and their children.
Yvonne was a professional secretary for the LDS Church, Pembroke Co., Channel 4, Stan Jones Construction and finally retired from Utah Power and Light in 1993.
She proudly sang with the LDS Tabernacle Choir from 1946 to 1952 until Scott was born. Yvonne enjoyed her “radio spots” produced for Jaguar automobile company and several other businesses, “Brit“ accent required.
Tragically and unexpectedly, her dear youngest son Paul age 49 died August 20, 2008 and her beloved son Brent age 59 died 3 years later on October 7, 2011. Her sons were her utmost joy and achievement – how she missed their love and close family bond. No words can express what an impact this had on her and her eldest and adored son Scott with the loss of husband and father as well as sons and brothers from their close-knit family group. Scott has been constantly by her side as well as attending to his brothers during each of their illnesses.
Above all, there have been so many years of adventure and laughter, boating at Bear Lake, outings in their meadow trailer and then their Kamas area cabin, fishing in the Uintah Mountains and 55 years in their Holladay home and neighborhood.
Yvonne is survived by her eldest son Scott who gently and lovingly took care of his “Mum”, his brothers and their home and cabin tirelessly for years. She is also survived by her sister Angela E. Baldwin in California, Scott’s daughter Amy M. Laxman and grandchildren Kasi and Bryton as well as many remarkable nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to John and Greg Wittwer and their wives Patti and Julie for being at Paul and Brent’s sides during their illnesses. John and Patti have become a big part of Yvonne and Scott’s lives in recent years dealing with many complex and necessary decisions, providing needed care, and giving Yvonne and Scott “peace of mind” that can never be repaid.
Special thanks also to the doctors and nurses at St. Mark’s hospital and the medical and other professionals at Care Source, particularly Chanel, Rita, Sharon, Nicole and Jody who provided superb and loving care for Yvonne in her home during her final illness. Neighbor and CNA Kathy Irwin also provided much love and care in a very kind and personal way that will always be remembered. Yvonne and the family are also very grateful for Bishop Kent Meredith as well as many special friends and neighbors for their many kindnesses and loving service.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 28th at 2:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Memorial Chapel, 3115 East 7800 South (Bengal Blvd.) where family and friends may visit from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Funeral directors Mountain View Memorial.
