Wilson Vincent Houston

December 26, 1957 — March 27, 2022

Much sympathy for all who love Mr. Wilson Vincent Houston Jr., born December 26th, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas.  He was 64 years old and passed away on Sunday, March 27th, 2022 in Murray, Utah. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. W V Houston, met working at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio back in 1956. The Houstons moved to Los Angeles California in the early 1960s with 4 children and 1st born John Charles Broussard was named after Louisiana family relations. He is called JC and is 1 year older than “Bubba” which is an African American way of saying “brother” from long ago native roots. The 3 Houston siblings after JC are Wilson, Allen Wayne, and Mellonee Houston, all 4 born in Texas. The 2nd Houston brother Al married in the early 1980s; Kimberly Houston. Their 3 children are Allen Houston Jr. aka  Al B Mcfly, Antjuan Bleeper Houston, and Lexy Houston. Our father named his only biological daughter Mellonee René after his mother whose family descendants from Mr Polito Estrada emigrated from Madrid Spain via Louisiana in the early 1900s. In Texas there is a long history of blended cultures; American, Indian, Latin and Asian in harmony. Actually our family are both Black Cowboys and Cherokee Indian mixed proud Black American educated people. Ancestral studies show our origin in Ethiopia. Our father was in the military before marriage. Serving in the US army for 2 years in Munich, Germany. Also he was school valedictorian at Holy Redeemer church school. We are bookish and studious as well. Wilson was Student Body President at Trade Technical College in mid-city Los Angeles in 1981-1983. He studied Hotel and Professional Restaurant Management mainly because his father and grandfather Houston both owned Smokehouse Barbecue Restaurants in Cuero, Texas, then in LA. Our restaurant was at 3765 South Western Ave near the USC area. A famous jazz and blues club called The Tiki was very close by. Teenage Wilson, affectionately called Bubba, worked there in the 1970s to mid 1980s happily alongside his proud father. Late night musicians were regular customers. The place was filled with jazz music on KKGO radio station. Our dad would read the paper calmly knowing Bubba was doing excellent work there and in the community. Wilson was a member of Trinity Baptist Church on Jefferson near Arlington. Very clean cut wearing suits with white dress shirts. He was so humble and seemed to not notice his movie star handsome looks. Rather he strove to speak honestly, direct and knowledgeable when in conversation. He was admired by all. He worked as a Stockbroker for Sherman Leeman Brothers downtown LA. One of the few successful Black brokers. His love of being a chef like Daddy led him to work for Monterey school near CSULA cooking for students and being very appreciated. He could get work very easily. Warm smile and very polite. Yes he struggled with nicotine and some alcohol disease which he strove to keep from hurting anyone. His stress was family dissolution which is characteristic in the inner city “broken home” of his parents. His siblings grew up with relatives living far apart. Wilson wanted to make his family proud. He believed in education and common sense. When he moved to Utah in 1993 he worked very hard to one day own his own home. He accomplished that dream. He had 5 children whom he loved very dearly. His first child is Camille Condie, who was his oldest daughter. He then had his first son, Samiuela Manoa Houston (Ameelia Fotu Houston), along with his second son, Wilson Manoa Houston Jr III (Maisyn Jensen Houston). He then had another daughter, Meliame Renee Tofa Houston, along with his youngest daughter, Victoria Fua Hazel Houston. Wilson loved and cherished his children so much. They were his pride and joy. He loved to make keepsakes for his kids since they were born. Wilson absolutely loved to cherish beautiful memories and special moments. Wilson passed away before finding out that he was a grandpa. He also cherished his sisters and brothers, cousins and many love ones from Texas to Southern California. His brothers; John “JC ” Allen-wayne Houston (1959-1995) Antoine Latiff affectionately called Tony and youngest brother Melvin-Ray of Seattle Washington. His sisters Mellonee Renee Houston , Gwendolyn Denise, and Melvinetta Yvonne. Wilson had a big heart and loved everyone who he cared about.
