William Stewart Clark

January 13, 1999 — August 16, 2022

On the evening of Tuesday August 16th our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend took his life in Capitol Reef National Park. William Stewart Clark was born January 13, 1999 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Early on in his life Will was a quiet soul with an inquisitive mind and a fearless and determined attitude. He was aptly named. Will demonstrated incredible hand-eye coordination, resulting in exemplary musical technique on the cello and guitar, as well as riding on any type of “board” whether it was on pavement, water, or snow. He expressed his creativity in so many different ways including music composition, woodworking, writing, and silversmithing. He graduated from Olympus High School in 2017 and was a senior at the University of Utah where he studied cello performance and philosophy.
Will loved spending time with his family especially at Lake Powell, Capitol Reef, skiing in the Wasatch mountains, fly-fishing the rivers of Utah/Montana, and looking through a telescope under very dark, clear skies. People, especially his closest friends were drawn to Will by his unique approach to whatever he did, whether organizing an adventure, taking on outlandish and stimulating projects, or just out having a good time. There was a quirky, funny, and goofy side to Will that everyone was able to relate to. His approach to all that he did was unique and refreshing. Will’s siblings, cousins and grandparents were included as some of his best friends.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and read from the Bible almost daily. Will was a voracious reader of an expansive range of subjects, making his own annotations on every page of every book he read. He was disciplined and hardworking, extremely physically fit, and enjoyed gourmet food and deep conversation. As a family we are unbelievably devastated, but we are grateful to know that he is at rest from the struggles that plagued him in the last few years.
Will is survived by his parents Herald and Jennifer Clark, brothers HR and Alex, sister Meredith, grandparents Keith and Leslie Stewart, Philip and Ruth Clark, all of his uncles, aunts and cousins.
