Golden Reeves peacefully returned to his Heavenly Home on January 13, 2025, at the age of 87. He was born on November 3, 1937, to William Otto Reeves and Wealth Unthank Millett. He married Cynthia Jane Hartsough on December 13, 1958. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on October 3, 1961.
Golden had a deep passion for gardening, earning the title of Master Gardener and becoming affectionately known as the “Tomato King” after being featured in a Deseret News article highlighting his love for gardening. He was always eager to help others with their gardens and freely offered a helping hand to anyone in need.
Golden proudly served in the United States Navy as a submariner aboard the submarines Grouper and Bonefish, where he worked as a cook for the crew. In later years, he transformed his culinary talents into a profession, applying his skills to a variety of engagements. The bulk of his career, however, was spent as a technician with the Time and Instrument Company.
An avid supporter of Scouting, Golden dedicated himself to helping many young men achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. His efforts were recognized with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award.
A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Golden served faithfully as a Bishop and later in the Jordan River and Oquirrh Hills temples for several years.
Golden loved the outdoors and found joy in fishing, boating, camping, and hunting. Together with his wife, Cynthia, he generously opened their home to several foster sons, providing them with love and support.
His legacy is one of service, kindness, and a life well-lived.
Golden is survived by his wife Cynthia, son Brian (Penney), granddaughter Christine, a foster son, Kirby Winder (Roxanne), and their five sons/wives and also many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and six siblings, Melvin, Celia, Fae, Thiel, EvaDean, and Phyllis.
