William F. (“Willi”) Gerberding passed away peacefully on February 21, 2014 surrounded by loved ones. He was born on July 27, 1929 in Beckedorf, Schaumburg, Germany. He married Ruth Margarete Bernau on Aug 6, 1955 in Mannheim, West Germany. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 3, 1957.
Willi was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed many years ushering at the Tabernacle for General Conference in the foreign language section. Willi loved being at home with his family. He always looked forward to a day of golf with friends. A hobby he enjoyed was making decorative sand bottles and he gave them as gifts to others. Willi worked diligently to provide for his family. He worked as a stone-mason, carpet layer, and for most of his working years as a car salesman for Dave Strong Porsche-Audi-Volkswagen.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb 26, at 11:30 am at the Brighton 4th Ward Chapel, 2301 East Bengal Blvd (7600 S). A viewing will be held Tuesday, February 25, from 6:00-8:00 pm and from 10:00–11:00 am prior to the services at the same location. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Park, 3115 East Bengal Blvd.
