William Cooper

October 25, 1930 — January 11, 2015

A giant of gentleness, kindness and love departed this life Sunday, January 11, 2015. William Edward “Bill” Cooper was a wise counselor, loving sweetheart, tender father and grandfather, trusted friend, businessman and gentleman extraordinaire. He will always be remembered for his wisdom, wit, and loving influence on everyone he met. He loved playing basketball, golf, racquetball and tennis where his long arms and wizardry were a decided advantage.
The three most important things to Bill were his Savior Jesus Christ, his sweetheart Barbara and his family. He was a member of the LDS Church and served joyfully in many capacities throughout his life.
Serving others and investing in relationships were Bill’s priorities. He worked in the construction equipment industry for Foulger Equipment Company, Construction Equipment Associates, ESP Excavation and Kimball Equipment. He enjoyed serving the local business community as Director of the Western Division of the National Association of Credit Management, Director of Associated Equipment Distributors and President of the Intermountain Association of Credit Men. As Bill became very reflective in recent years, the experiences and friendships of his working years were a frequent topic of conversation. He loved reminiscing about his time at East High School and his Alma Mater, the University of Utah. Bill was thankful for the opportunity to serve in the Utah Air National Guard and was very proud to wear the uniform of his country. He never took his freedom for granted and enjoyed participating in local and national political affairs.
Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara Clark Cooper, children Tom (Linda) Cooper, Mike Cooper, Lauri (Dennis) Winge, Jane (Jeff) Nichols, 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a brother Robert H Cooper.
