Willem Zierse

Our loving dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa passed away March 21, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Willem was born September 28, 1921 in Rotterdam, Netherlands to Johannes and Pieternella Zierse. He served in the Dutch military. During WWII he was a POW in a German labor camp for 3 years. Following his service he married Lodewika “Lucy” Speksnijder; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple after coming to America.
Willem enjoyed bowling, stamp collecting, and gardening. His home was always the envy of the neighborhood. He held numerous callings in the LDS Church. He was charitable and always thinking of others.
Survived by his sons, Bill (Patti), Rick (Carol); 10 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He loved his family and they loved him. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 25th, 10:30 a.m. at the Hunter Village Ward, 3450 So. 6400 W. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 So. Redwood Rd. and one hour prior to services at the church.
