Wesley Westberg Wilkes

June 13, 1923 — June 21, 2020

Wesley Westberg Wilkes passed peacefully from this world into the Spirit World early in the morning of June 21, 2020 at 1:55 a.m. He had lived to the distinguished age of 97. Our beloved Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather many times over. He lived a life so full it could be counted as two lifetimes measured in 97 years. Wes was a dedicated family man and embraced his step-children and step grandchildren as his own.
Wesley was born June 13,1923 in Salt Lake City, UT. His parents were James Edward and Esther Cecelia Emelia Westberg Wilkes. He married Beverly Ashby March 26, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had 4 children. Beverly passed away November 1982. After she died Wes married Diane Poll on July 22 1985. At the time Diane had 5 children. He was dearly loved, admired and respected by his Poll family. In the wake of his passing, many fond memories are now valuable treasures to all who knew him. You could always count on Grandpa for a Jazz Game in the living room preferably with either McDonald’s, Cowboy Pizza or Kentucky Fried Chicken, followed by a passionate political debate and a solid conspiracy theory to end the evening.
He worked as a truck driver for Ringsby Truck Lines for 23 years. Wes was a Chess champion. Grandkids loved to challenge Grandpa to a game of Chess. His Mt. Pleasant property was the love of his life. He loved to be a “property owner.” He and all his family had many good times at that property.
Wes is survived by Diane his wife and many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Children: Dan (Carla), Judy Evans, Joyce Ilene Harrison (Gary), Bob (Liz). Step children: Craig, Charmaine Tharman, Shane (Rose), Quinn (Gloria). 22 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. 9 step grandchildren,13 step great grandchildren and 2 step great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Beverly, his parents, his siblings: James Edward Wilkes, Viola Eunice Stiles, Arlene Lydia Pratt Shelton, and his step son Bruce Poll.
