Wendy Sorensen Vaka

Wendy Sorensen Vaka, age 45, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, after a long, hard-fought battle with breast cancer. She was born August 22, 1973 in Norristown, PA to Craig and Jolene Sorensen. On August 1, 1998 she married Pongia Hevao Vaka in the Salt Lake Temple . Wendy and Pongia live in Hauula, HI, with their five beautiful children. Wendy had a love for life, her family, her faith and was always serving others. She was always seen with an infectious smile on her face and a kindness in her eyes.
Wendy is survived by her husband Pongia and their five children, Michael Melino, Isaac Lekuea Craig, Elena Silia, Ammon Mahonri Pongia, and Lavemai Brenton Enos, along with her mother, Jolene Sorensen, and her siblings: Steve (Kris) Sorensen, Cami (Troy) Sowards, Paul (Angela) Sorensen,  Linda (Shane) Dossett, Daniel (Vicki) Sorensen, and David (Sharon) Sorensen, Mother-In- Law, ‘Amalaini Vaka, In-Laws: Kauvaka (Tasi) Pulupaki, Mosese (Akosita) Pulupaki, Penisimani (Diane) Vaka, Solomone (Vika) Vaka, Mark E. Peterson (Helena) Vaka, ‘Anitoni Lata He Temipale (Christina) Vaka, ‘Ofa Vea Leha, ‘Ana Mekemeke (Lui) Leota, and Kalolaine Vaka , and numerous nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her father, Craig Sorensen, father-in-law, Melino Vaka, brother-in-law Lekuea Vaka, and nephew, Jeddai Craig Sowards.
A viewing will be held at 10:00-11:30 a.m. and memorial service at 12:00 p.m on Saturday, November 24, 2018, The Laie Stake Center, 55 Iosepa Street, Laie, HI 96762. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the same location. Interment: Laie Cemetery, Monday, November 26 at 11:00 a.m.
