Wayne Robert Taylor, age 84, died on November 10, 2019 in Murray, Utah. Bob was born on February 1, 1935 in Fort Duchesne, UT to William Henry Taylor Jr. and Della Marie Nelson. He spent his early years on a farm above Whiterocks, Utah. When he was 15 years old, he started his ranch and rodeo days with his nephews. He rode bareback and was a bull rider, and enjoyed bull riding the most. When he was 19, he joined the Navy with his nephew and served on an escort aircraft carrier in the port of Korea during the Korean Conflict as well as the Marshall Islands during the atomic bomb testing. Bob received an honorable discharge in 1957.
He met his wife Diana Tsosie in Brigham City, Utah. They were married on March 3, 1961. He was in a country western band with his father, aunt, brother and sister and played the mandolin in local pubs. He worked for the United Fence Company as a crew foreman for 42 years, retiring in 1997. Bob enjoyed camping and the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. Bob started attending powwows when he was 40 years old. He was very proud to serve the Salt Lake Valley as a Spiritual Advisor. He enjoyed traveling to powwows across the US and always enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren dance and sing.
Bob is survived by his wife Diana of 58 years; 5 children: Robert Jr (Becky), Kenneth (Colleen), Shon, Denece (David), and Debbie; 2 spiritually adopted sons Alan (Stephanie) Blackbird and Robert Barbone; 12 grandchildren: Jared (Megan), Lane, Joshua (Nia), Katie (Ben), Zac (Mandy), Ilaisa, Nicholas, Jaycie, Marcus, Taya, Daisy and Samantha; 4 great grandchildren: Alissa, Emma, Kade and one on the way; numerous nephews and nieces: numerous brothers, sisters, sons, daughters and grandchildren who he claimed as family throughout his life.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and all of his brothers and sisters: Virginia, Dorothy, Maxine, Thelma, Margie, Betty and Richard.
A 12 hour viewing/wake will take place from 7:00 PM Wednesday, November 13, 2019 through Thursday November 14, 2019 7:00 AM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT, 84123. Services will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4501 West 5215 South, Kearns, UT, 84118, Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 11:30 AM with a viewing beforehand at 10:15 AM. Interment is to follow back at Memorial Redwood Cemetery. To leave online condolences, please visit memorialutah.com.
