After a long 22 year wait Wayne was finally reunited with the love of his life Betty on August 9 2014. Wayne was on of 6 children born to George W. and Sarah E (Strurm) Atkinson on February 10, 1931.
He married the love of his life Betty Nickle on September 9, 1949. Together they were blessed with 3 children Rae Dene, Kelleen and Jeff.
He proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War and had a successful career with EIMCO Mining and Six States Distributing.
Wayne loved hunting, fishing and camping with his kids and grand kids.
He is survived by his children and their spouses Rae Dene and Kris Peterson, Kelleen and Roger Herrin, Jeff and Cathy (Keetch) Atkinson, his sister Evelyn DuMond, numerous grand children, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will also be terribly missed by his dogs Buddy and Tiger.
Preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, brothers William, Thomas and Norman, and infant sister Irene.
Graveside only services will be held Thursday, August 14 at 11:00 AM at Mountain View Memorial, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights.
