Warren Nicholson

Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, Warren J Nicholson, passed on to his Heavenly Father on December 7, 2015 in Taylorsville, Utah, four days after his 93rd birthday.
Warren was born on December 3, 1922 In Salt Lake City, Utah to Stanley Livingston Nicholson and Johanna M. Brox Nicholson. He was the youngest of four children. He grew up in Salt Lake City and attended schools there. He graduated from West High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy on the battleship U.S.S. Mississippi during World War II.
Warren married Fay Clark on September 2, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and together they raised five children: Gary Nicholson (Lois), Cheryl Campbell (Ronald), Laurel Sund (Kenneth), Dale Nicholson (Janice), and Kay Yeaman (Craig). They were the grandparents of 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Warren’s wife Fay, passed away in 2003, and his oldest son, Gary passed away last February. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brother Cail, and Sisters Helen Shober (Ernest), and Vera Garside (Dale); his daughter-in-law Ginny Nicholson; and his sister-in-law Dorothy Guinn (Earl).
Dad worked as a sheet metal worker and made some very beautiful things with his talent. He was a very energetic person who worked hard and enjoyed his favorite activities: golfing, bowling, and dancing. Warren played the clarinet and saxophone in the U.S. Navy band and in his Uncle Adolph Brox’s band in Salt Lake City in the 1940s and 1950s. He loved teasing and playing with his grandchildren. He was quick to laugh and was a happy person.
Warren is survived by his four younger children, his brother-in-law, Ray Clark, and nieces and nephews.
The Nicholson family wishes to thank all the medical and hospice workers who cared for Warren during his illness.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015, 11:00 am with a viewing one hour prior to the service at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
