Warren Lamar Vincent

Warren LaMar Vincent, age 82, passed away at home, November 9th, 2019 in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, after a valiant battle with cancer.
He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, on November 7, 1937 to Bertram LaMar Vincent and Margaret Veda Arthur.
Warren grew up in Salt Lake City and in Sandy City. He graduated from the old Jordan High School in Sandy in 1956. He played on the golf team and made many good friends.
Warren served an LDS Mission to the Gulf States. He graduated from the U of U with an Elementary Teaching degree in 1962 and a Master of Education in 1968. He loved teaching and taught 36 years. During that time, he was a teacher specialist, and director of the Community School.
The Army National Guard was a huge part of his life. Warren joined when eighteen and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel at sixty.
He loved and grew orchids. Many friends enjoyed wearing orchid corsages with flowers grown in his greenhouse. He was a member of the Utah Orchid Society for a many years and became the president for a few.
Warren married Gloria Jean Rogers, August 25, 1964 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with five beautiful children and raised them in the Cottonwood Heights home they’d purchased soon after being married. They also had a home in Fruitland, Utah where they enjoyed fishing, riding ATV’s, hunting lizards with the grandkids, and just enjoying the beautiful country. He especially enjoyed fly-fishing.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many capacities including a service missionary and temple worker.
Survived by his wife: Gloria, daughters: Alison (Greg Hirst), Chrisy (Jason Dipo), sons: Darin (Erika Widmer), Kevin (Sandy Thomas), and Cory (Michele Finn), 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, sisters LaRae Vincent Maynard, (Ken) and Lee Ann Vincent McCallister, (Alan).
Preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 16 at 12:00 P.M. in the Butler West Stake House, 1845 East 7200 South, Cottonwood Heights. Friends may visit Friday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the Stake House and from 10:30-11:45 A.M. prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery, 3115 E 7800 S, Cottonwood Heights.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the IHC Hospice team for the kind and expert care provided by them, making Warren’s last weeks comfortable.
