Wanda T Tobin

Wanda T. Tobin, 94, passed away peacefully at home on October 31 of causes incident to age. She was born December 19, 1923 in Fairview, UT to Lewis and Agnes Peterson Terry, the first of their six children. After graduating from North Sanpete High School and Seminary, she moved to Salt Lake City where she met and married John W. (Jack) Tobin on June 15, 1946. They settled in Rose Park where they raised their two sons, Michael and Kerry. Jack passed away on March 20, 2001. Wanda was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Wanda worked for many years for Utah Unemployment Services processing claims. When she wasn’t at work she loved to play bridge and to golf. After she and Jack retired they bought a “mini Winnie” motorhome and joined the L&K Antelope Chapter of Good Sam Club. They enjoyed many years of camping with new and old friends.
The grandchildren remember Grandma Tobin loved to “shop ‘til you drop”. She always had ice cream bars in her freezer. Sunday dinners at Grandma’s are among their fondest memories. She would not sit down and eat until everyone else had been served. By then the food was already getting cold but she never complained.
Wanda is survived by her two sons, Mike (wife Cathy) of Visalia, CA and Kerry (wife Shanna) of South Ogden, UT. She will be dearly missed by her 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, all her brothers and sisters and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be held Friday, November 9 at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road in Salt Lake City. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., with a brief burial service at 11:30 followed by a Celebration of Life from noon until 2:00 PM.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Susie, Ofa and Da, for their loving care during the final months of Wanda’s life.Service Information
