Wally graduated from Park City High School where he played on the football team. For many years, he held the school’s record for the highest number of touchdowns scored in a single game. Following high school graduation, Wally joined the U.S. Navy where he was a signalman and served for four years during World War II.
Following an honorable discharge from the Navy, Wally worked for several years as a hard rock miner in the mines of Park City. Wally and Elda relocated from their home in Heber City to Salt Lake City where Wally worked for many years as a water pump mechanic and consultant for Nickerson Pump & Machinery Co. He retired in 1984.
Wally and Elda were active for many years in the Sons of the Utah Pioneers organization during which time he served as the organization’s national president for seven years.
