WALLACE LEROY PRICE
(1915-2015)
Our beloved father, Wallace Leroy Price “Wally”, surrounded by his loving family, returned home to his Heavenly Father on January 19, 2015, where he was reunited with his parents, his wife, his son Don, his infant daughter Edith Mary, six brothers and one sister. Wally was born on August 10, 1915 to Joseph and Mary Chatwin Price in Salt Lake City, Utah. He married the love of his life, Marian Sleater Price for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on August 10, 1934-the best 19th birthday ever. She passed away on August 14, 1994. Wally was a veteran who served in Europe on the railroads helping get supplies to troops in World War II. Wally liked to work hard, usually having a second job and odd jobs as he could find them. He was definitely a people person and he became friends with every person he talked to. Wally and Marian always had the best looking yard in town, from the green grass to the colorful array of flowers they spent hours looking after. Wally loved Marian deeply and kissed her every day with his patented double peck kiss before leaving the house. Wally worked for the railroad and eventually had a career with the postal service. When he retired from the postal service he was working at the Salt Palace as an usher and eventually with the Jazz at the Delta Center, which to him it has always been called. He loved that job so much he hardly considered it work and was there until just a few weeks before his passing. Wally loved his family and looked forward to getting everyone together for Holidays and his infamous birthday parties. He was especially proud to have 6 living generations together at those parties, which as he said all happened “simply because two people fell in love.” Wally was a season ticket holder for Ute football and of course he loved his Jazz, and they loved him. In their prime, many players could not play until they had sought out Wally and shook his hand. Family, friends, Ute football, his faith and his job with the Jazz are what kept him going strong into his 99th year. Through that job most knew Wally as the old man who gave hugs, danced with the Jazz dancers, and single handedly made sure that every couple in Utah held hands. Thank you to the Miller family for allowing him to continue that work right up to the end. Wally was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Wally is survived by his children Beverly (Mel) Ingersoll, Shirley (David) Misner, Randy Price, and son at heart Bud Gaudig, as well as 19 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great grandchild.
