Wallace Ivan Clark

May 8, 1921 — December 7, 2018

Wallace Ivan Clark, our loved and admired father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away at his home on Friday, December 7, 2018 in the presence of loving family. Wallace was born on May 8, 1921 in Mendon, Utah to Eli B. and Ella Belle Tuck Clark as the sixth of nine children — all sons. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. On June 11, 1947, he married his sweetheart Colleen Christensen in the Latter-day Saint temple in Logan, Utah.
Wallace was gifted with his hands, a true artisan who loved to create and build things. He often fashioned furniture, toys, or decorative items for family and friends. He did a substantial amount of craft and skilled trades work on the home he and his wife shared in the Kearns area for over sixty years. Professionally he worked for Kennecott Copper Corporation for several decades as a master welder. Post-retirement, Wallace worked in home construction with many contractors for over fifteen years.
Wallace was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission with Colleen to the Canada Winnipeg Mission. They also served together as workers in the Jordan River Temple for over sixteen years. Wallace held callings as a stake missionary and high councilor in his stake and bishop in his ward. For many years he served as a stake patriarch.
Wallace was preceded in death in 2014 by his wife, with whom he is now enjoying a sweet reunion. He is also preceded in death by his son-in-law David Ottley and great-grandsons Elijah Jenkins and Seth Sweet. He is survived by his six children: Jean (David) Ottley, Faye (Mike) Painter, Beth (Donald) Gunderson, Gary Clark, Janell (Paul) Laursen, and Scott (Sandy) Clark. Wallace was also grandfather to twenty-two grandchildren and great-grandfather to sixty-four. He was a hero to them all. The family is deeply grateful to all of the skilled and caring nurses and other healthcare professionals who lovingly served Wallace and were attentive to his needs during his final years, especially Denise Singer.
