Wallace Hendrickson

December 13, 1942 — February 11, 2025

Wallace Hendrickson, affectionately known as Wally, passed away peacefully at home in South Jordan, Utah on February 11, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on December 13, 1942, in Inglewood, California, Wally led a vibrant life marked by his passion for sports and unwavering dedication to his family.

For over 20 years, Wally built a successful career as a salesman in the HVAC industry, where his personable nature and remarkable ability to connect with people made him stand out. Beyond his professional endeavors, he made significant contributions to his community as a referee for little league and high school sports for over 30 years, nurturing a love for athletics in many young lives.

Wally was an avid sports fan who cherished all forms of competition, but he was particularly devoted to University of Utah Athletics, LA Dodgers, and the LA Rams. His dedication to the University of Utah was further demonstrated by his membership in the Crimson Club for more than 27 years, where he proudly supported his beloved Utah Utes.

Education was also important to Wally; he graduated from Granite High School and attended the University of Utah, where he laid the foundation for a life of learning and growth. He took pride in his time in the Army Reserves, serving for six years, demonstrating his commitment to his country.

Outside of his professional and academic achievements, Wally had a deep passion for various hobbies. He adored working on cars, finding joy in his cherished 1955 Chevy and 1968 Camaro. He was equally enthusiastic about his yard, maintaining it with care and precision. Wally particularly loved his Quakies, boasting more than 50 in his immaculate yard. His musical tastes were reflective of his vibrant spirit, enjoying the sounds of The Beach Boys, Cher, Elvis, and Neil Diamond.

Wally’s greatest pride lay in his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Hendrickson; his children, daughter in law Sonnett Hendrickson, Chad and DeAnna Hendrickson, Steve and Jenifer Linton, Jeff and Lara Hendrickson, TJ and Rachel Hendrickson; his brother, Rick Hendrickson and Roger Mitchell. He was a proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, he deeply cherished his role in their lives. Wally was not only a loving husband and father but also a mentor to countless young athletes, instilling in them the values of teamwork and perseverance.

He is proceeded in death by his son Skip Hendrickson, his parents Wallace Goodwin Hendrickson and Rachel Anderson Hendrickson, and his sisters Jackie Paton and Rosemary Hendrickson.

Wally’s legacy will endure through the memories he created and the countless lives he touched with his kindness and enthusiasm for life. His passing leaves a profound void, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.  We know Wally is rejoicing in his reunion with Skip, whom he missed dearly.
