Wallace Dean Hollister

January 9, 1928 — May 4, 2017

Wallace Dean Hollister, 89, of Taylorsville passed away on May 4, 2017.  He was born to Charles Everett and Alma May Bever Hollister on January 9, 1928 in Ceder Vale, Kansas where he graduated from high school in 1947.  He moved from Cedar Vale to Arkansas City, Kansas where he worked at Strothers Air Field making ceramic Wall & Floor Tile for Pamona Tile Co. of Pamona, CA.  The next move was to Wichita, KS where he worked for Cessna Aircraft Co. for 21 years and retired from there.  While living in Wichita he met Deloris Sonya White.  They married and had three daughters and a son.  Due to a racially disruptive school system he moved the family to Utah.  He worked for the public school system and retired from there in 1991.  Dean enjoyed being retired, staying home, enjoyed working with many types of flowers, and having his family around him as much as possible.
Dean was a very active member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F).  He was a member of the Murray #33 Lodge and served as Grandmaster for the Grand Lodge of Utah as well as being the Grand Lodge Treasurer.
Dean is preceded in death by his father Charles Everett, mother Alma May, brothers Leroy, Maurice, and Max, sisters Retha and Delores, baby daughter Annita Dianne, and wife Deloris Sonya.  He is survived by his daughter Teana (Jim) Williams of West Valley City, UT, daughter Sandra (Dave) Shelton of Peoria, AZ, son Tommy (Barbara) of Taylorsville, UT, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Dean was a faithful member of the Church of Christ.  He loved all his church friends as well as his Odd Fellows friends.
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Redwood Memorial Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 S Redwood Road.  A Viewing will take place from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday May 10, 2017 and one hour prior to services at the mortuary.  Interment will follow at Valley View Memorial Cemetery. Friends may leave condolences by going to www.memorialutah.com
