Virla Bell Busby

December 11, 1926 — September 10, 2018

Our beautiful, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on Sept 10, 2018.
Virla was born on Dec 11, 1926 in Glenwood, Utah to Rodney Thomas Bell and Cleone Buchanan Bell. She moved to Twin Falls, Idaho when she was five years old. Virla excelled at school, loved math, was an avid reader and loved to dance and sing. After graduating high school, she attended BYU for two years. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a full-time missionary in the Southern California Mission. She then attended the University of Utah for more schooling.
Virla married her sweetheart, Harley Busby, in the Salt Lake Temple on Jan 19, 1962. They moved into their home in Holladay in 1963, where they lived for the rest of their lives. Virla has always had a strong testimony of the gospel and served faithfully in many callings. Her life was full of music, church and family. She loved spending time with her husband and 3 daughters going on family trips, playing games, putting puzzles together and singing around the piano.
Music was a central part of Virla’s life and she loved to share her joy of music. Virla was also a talented writer and used her gifts to bless many lives. She conducted choirs, wrote scripts, skits and songs for road shows and church programs, organized talent shows and helped with worship services at the Utah State Prison for 10 years. Most recently she shared her musical talents and testimony with the residents at the Sunrise senior care center. Virla helped and lifted all those around her radiating kindness, love and enthusiasm wherever she went. Many were drawn to her cheerful smile and positive attitude. Virla’s life was an example of service, love and joy.
Virla and Harley were the proud grandparents of 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and she loved spending time with them. She made each one feel like the most important person in her life. She is preceded in death by her brother Don and her husband, Harley. She is survived by her daughters, Janis Hill (Cary), Amy Dellenbach (Dave) and Linda Bailey (Phil).
