Violet M. “Pat” Knapp

May 23, 1922 — August 27, 2016

We lost a special and loved angel, Violet M. “Pat” Knapp to Alzheimer’s. She died peacefully at home at the age of 94 on August 27, 2016 with her loved ones. Violet M. “Pat” was born to Myrtle and Victor McGrew on May 23, 1922 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She married her first love, William G. Hobbs, in 1944. She married her second love, Alan David Knapp, on November 1965. There are so many things to say about Pat, where to start and where to end? She worked for the Delmar for 25 years and loved it. She loved to dance, go to Las Vegas; she loved clothes, shoes, purses, jewelry and dressed to the nines. Mama could have opened her own clothing store, she had so much! Mama will be greatly missed by her family and friends both near and far, young and old. She loved spending time with her family and friends, was an avid sports fan, going to the Ute games, Real Salt Lake, bowling every Friday and watching everyone bowl, enjoyed Nascar, going to dinner and lunch. She loved Liberty Park, traveling, and was fascinated by old and new cars everywhere. Mom just plain always wanted to get in the car and just go somewhere. Pat’s daughters, son, and family wish to thank her doctor, Reid Harrison, and one very special and loved nurse, Katrina “Stormy” Dawes, for their compassionate care and love. Thank you so very much. Gathering of family and friends her memory, viewing, and celebration of her life will be held at Redwood Memorial Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 1:30 PM with a viewing one hour prior. There will never be enough words to say how much we are going to miss her. Sad that we lost our mother, but the experience we had with our mother will always be with us. Pat is preceded in death by her mother and father, step-father, Bill Bethel, brothers, Mer Elemo (Sue) McGrew and Hershal Dean McGrew, sister Leota Ellen Williams, husbands, William G. Hobbs and Alan David Knapp, daughter, Connie Jean Pace, son, Randall Hobbs, grandson, Troy Hobbs, and granddaughter, Brenda Zenor. Pat is survived by her daughters, Jayne (Steve) Lancaster, Patricia (Jake) Jacobsen, Christy (Chris) Youngman, Kathy Clayton, Carol (Gil) Hobbs Sinju, and Fawn (Brent) Shafer, son, Billy Hobbs, 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
