Vincente Gutierrez

March 6, 1931 — January 12, 2018

Vincente Gutierrez, beloved husband, devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Passed away peacefully in his home with his beloved “Lalita” and family at his side. He was 86 years old.
He was born March 6, 1931. The son of Manuel Gutierrez and Lozenzita Valdez in La Jara, New Mexico. Vincente was very proud of his father who served as Justice of the Peace, in Bernallio, New Mexico.
Vincente married the love of his life Lala Rael on July 31, 1955 at our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church They were married 62 years.
Vincente was a dedicated father to his four children. He was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Kearns, serving as a Eucharistic Minister. His joy in life was playing his guitar. He established the first Spanish choir at St. Francis Xavier. Then later started the bilingual choir at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where he continued to play his guitar until he was physically unable. He loved teaching guitar to anyone who was interested. He taught all his children to play the guitar. Joyce Bertha and Vincent Jr. continue to play.
He loved music, camping with family and friends. He was an amazing gardener and enjoyed his fruit trees and growing vegetables.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. November 7, 1951 to October 29, 1953 and earned and held the rank of Sargent 1st Class. He also, served in the Army Reserves until December 9, 1959. He was a member of American Legion Post #8 and held the rank of Sargent.
He was employed at Tooele Army Depot until he retired in 1987. He received numerous awards for improving work conditions, and his service went beyond the call of duty.
Survived by his loving wife Lala Rael Gutierrez, daughters, Joann Bennion (Paul Newsome), Joyce Bertha Martinez (Louie), Vivian Stoddard (Jed), and son Vincent A. Gutierrez Jr.
Preceded in Death by, his wonderful, sweet son-in-law Jed Stoddard. His Father, Manuel Gutierrez; and Mother Lorenzita Valdez; Five brothers Lorenzo Gutierrez, Moises Gutierrez, Adonay Gutierrez, Bonifacio Gutierrez, Manuel Gutierrez and three sister, Quiterita Maestas, Grace Duran, and Bertina Lucero.
Services: Friday, January 19, 2018 at Memorial Estates 6500 S. Redwood Rd. West Jordan, Utah
Viewing – 5:30 – 7:00 P.M.
Eulogy – 7:00 – 8:00 P.M.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary – 8:00 P.M.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated – Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4501 W. 5215 S. Kearns, Utah with a visitation to begin at 10:00 a.m.
