Victor Lopez
May 20, 1932, to June 2, 2022
Our beloved Chili Man, Husband, Father, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Great Great Grandpa and our favorite grouch, Victor Lopez passed away peacefully on June 2, 2022 in his home. Just two weeks after his 90th birthday. He was born May 20, 1932 in Las Trampas, New Mexico where he spent his youth in the Land of Enchantment exploring, hunting, and fishing.
He enlisted in the United States Army in 1953 during the Korean War where he was honorably discharged after his service. He married his love, Mary Quintana in March of 1954. They spent 66 years happily married until her passing in 2018. They lived happily in Lark, Taylorsville and West Jordan UT. After working many years at Kennecott Copper starting on the track gang and retiring as a Locomotive Engineer, during his life he was an avid fisherman, hunter, and welder after many hours working that is how he relaxed. After he retired, he spent his days with family and friends, fishing, boating, camping, hunting, gardening, growing and roasting chili’s, helping others and fixing anything that came his way.
He was an incredibly active and proud member of the Catholic Community at St. Martin De Porres. He was involved in the expansion of the beautiful building it has become today. He loved waking up early to a hard coffee to plow the St Martin De Porres as well as other churches in the community. He will be greatly missed.
We love you dad and will honor your legacy in West Jordan (Kayla, Gina and Butch).
He is survived by Sister Elizaida Ortega (Onisimo) Brothers Sostento Lopez (Junita) and Elisardo Cruz (Florence) Lifelong friend and Brother In-Law David Quintana (Flora), Daughters Kayla Blatnick (Ronald), Virginia Lopez and grandchildren Angie Gourley (Aaron) Cassie Blatnick (Matt) Elissia Blake (James) and many great grandchildren and great-great children.
