“Whitey”
Our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends. Whitey was born in Lake County, South Dakota, January 11, 1920 to Phillip and Virgin Johnson Kvenvold. He married his sweetheart Helen Dent on December 11, 1941.
Whitey was very proud to have served in the United States Army during World War II. He received the following citations: European African Middle Eastern, Asiatic Pacific, Good Conduct, World War II Victory and the American Service Medals. He also served in the 193rd Tank Division. Dad loved the great outdoors and playing the harmonica and guitar.
He is survived by his children, Chip (Cheryl), Chuck (Judy), Sis (Andy), Mary (Bill), Carol, Bob (Kris), Tom (Cindy) and Ken (Amy); 26 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and brother, Daniel. Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Helen; son, Leonard and 2 siblings.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening, June 4, 2014 from 6-8:00 pm at Redwood Memorial, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan UT with the Rosary at 7:00. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 5, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 300 East 11800 South, Draper UT. Interment to follow at Redwood Memorial.
