Verna Despain Gerber passed peacefully in her home on April 28, 2014. She was born August 13, 1956 in Salt Lake City to Connie Fernandez and Vernon Despain. After earning an Associate’s Degree from SLCC, she began a career as a tour driver often driving high school, college, and national sports teams. It was during this time that she met and married the love of her life Randy Alan Gerber on October 16, 2004. They enjoyed their work together.
Verna excelled in creating and selling crafts. During the last year of her life she began her own business, Verna’s Garden Charmz, selling her fun garden creations online. Her garden was a wonder which grew flowers, sprouted veggies, and contained many colorful decorations that she made.
Verna loved to decorate for the holidays. Her favorite holiday was Halloween. Giving gifts was one of her love languages. She spoiled her family with gifts for Christmas and for their birthdays. The gifts were always lovingly chosen, often hand-picked weeks and months in advance during her trips. Her goal in life was to bring her family together. In 2011 she planned a trip to Disneyland and drove the entire family to Anaheim, California in a tour bus where we stayed at the Candy Cane Inn. It was a trip that will never be forgotten.
Above all else, Verna’s family was her life and they meant everything to her. It was reflected in the love she constantly showed. She means everything to them.
Verna is survived by her sweet and beloved husband and parents; her siblings: Cheryl, Kim, Marcy, Brian, and Jason; her children: Jared, Josh (Ryann), Meghan, Bethany, Sean (Anne), Cassy (Chad), Mandie (Des), Randy (Megan), and Shaun; her grandchildren: Aijah, Jaxson, Jaycen, Hailey, Kaytlyn, Charli, Kayleigh, Keeton, Mackenzie, William, Tatem, Piper, Josh, and Temprynce.
