Vern Edward Black, age 83, passed away on June 28, 2024 in South Jordan, Utah. He was born on April 12, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Vern Lloyd and Mary Lottie Brackett Black.
Vern married Judith Elaine Pola on June 19, 1964.
Vern loved hunting, fishing, and camping. He played the guitar and sang since his mission. Vern received a 4-year degree in Spanish and taught Spanish and First Aid in Middle School for 30 years in Price, Utah. He was a Scout Master for many years in the Price 3rd Ward. He was an EMT and Paramedic for Carbon County for 28 years. He spent 20 years in the Navy as a Medical Corpman, 10 months with the Marines and the rest of the time in the Reserves.
Vern is survived by his wife Judy; children Jon and Margaret; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother Mary; father Vern L. Black; three brothers Michael, Steven and Dan Black.
Funeral Services will held on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held prior to services from 10:00 to 10:45 AM.
