Our kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away February 8, 2017 in the arms of her only daughter Shelly.
Verla was proud to be born on Flag Day, June 14, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Ut to Willard P. and Geneve Jones Emery. She married Carl Lind on May 23, 1951 which was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Carl died July 1, 1992. Verla married Alden Keith Hamp on August 23, 1997 and they enjoyed nearly 20 years together. Keith has very lovingly taken care of mom for the last few years. The family wants to express our love and appreciation for his constant love and devotion to our mother!
She was a hard worker her entire life and retired from the Utah State Retirement Office.
Verla was multi-talented. She had a natural ability to oil paint, china paint, write poetry and personal histories. She helped many people tell their stories; especially mission farewells, weddings and funerals.
Verla had a strong testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ. She was a faithful servant and magnified her many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a mission in the Washington D.C. temple.
Family was Verla’s first priority. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Verla is survived by her sister Elaine Rolfe and brother Bill Emery. Her son Kyle Lind (Danni), daughter Shelly Parker (Randy), son Kory Lind (Angela), 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Verla is preceded in death by her sisters Joyce Harman and Mary Sartori.
A Viewing will be held at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 S. Redwood Rd from 6-8 P.M. Monday, February 13, 2017. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Riverside First Ward located at 5425 S 600 W Murray UT. The family will greet friends from 10-10:45 A.M.Service Information
