Veown Farmer

Veown Farmer
1922 ~ 2017
Veown, a one of a kind, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 3, 2017.
People were always curious about where her name came from. Well she was born to Vera Hayward and Owen Madsen (so Ve-Own) on December 15, 1922 in Gunnison, Utah. Oldest of six so she was no stranger to hard work.
Mom’s 35-year career in the grocery business encompassed a one-mile radius from her home in Kearns. After all, what if one of the kids needed her. Mom had a deep commitment to right & wrong, and excellent work ethic. She was liked and respected by those who met her and made friends easily. Mom was painfully honest and called it as she saw it, gave tons of free advice and made no excuses. She always felt that things would go better if you would just listen to her.
Mom’s house was the gathering place. She loved her Football Parties, BBQ’s, Spaghetti Dinners, Holidays, and when people would just drop in for coffee and a cookie, or when we were lucky, Homemade Bread. She always loved people around her.
Mom loved Shoes, Earrings, Yarn (which she would use to do beautiful work), Blitz, Wendover, and Fishing and Camping, Black Coffee (by the gallons) cookies and her birds and dogs.
Married Don Griggs in 1939 had two children Don Ray (died at 4 months) and Jean. Divorced.
Married the love of her life Wally Farmer on July 15th 1946. Together they shared 65 years together working side by side to make a loving home, and life just wasn’t the same when he passed away 5 & ½ years ago. I know they are fox trotting around the clouds now, happy once again to be together.
Proceeded in death by her Parents, 2 sisters Verna & Norma, 1 Brother Grant, Husband Wally Farmer, son’s Richard Farmer and Don Ray Griggs, daughter Jean Mitchell, Grandson Chris Farmer, Great Grandson’s Braydon Kinder and Jayden Lambert, and all of her closest friends.
Survived by her daughter Linda Good (Jerry), 9 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, and 13.5 Great Great Grandchildren, Sister LaRee Sandoval (Sammy), Brother Kent Madsen (Betty), Brother in-law Darrell Farmer, and her fur babies Minnie & Princess.
