Veneese was born June 13, 1938 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Ethel Hawker and Reese “D” Crockett. Reese passed away in an accident on August 4, 1938. Ethel married Clyde Park in 1940.
Veneese graduated from Idaho Falls High School and attended Idaho State College (now Idaho State University) in Pocatello. Much later in life she received a Bachelor’s degree in Independent Study and a Master’s degree in Library Science, both from Brigham Young University. She fulfilled a lifelong dream of being a librarian by working at the BYU Law Library and at the Historical Department Library of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
She met Lester Fullmer at Idaho State College, and he danced his way into her heart. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple. They welcomed four children into the family: Susan, David, Wendy and Sandra. Lester passed away from complications of diabetes in 1973.
At the time of Lester’s death, Veneese was working in Palo Alto, California. She took a leave of absence to go to Idaho Falls to have double knee surgery. She returned to work on crutches. There she met Mike Nelson who was a widower with four boys: Bradley, Peter, and twins Chris and Craig. When he asked her on a date, she questioned his sanity. However, love conquered and they combined their families in February 1974. The eight children ranged in ages from 7 to 13.
Veneese’s talents of homemaking and organization bonded the families together. There are many fond memories of trips, reunions, and cheering for the BYU Cougars (Yes, sadly the family left the Miracle Bowl before the end!). Later, four of the children served missions for the LDS Church. Veneese and Mike served five years in the Salt Lake Temple, and after retirement served five missions. Her service later in life was for her ancestors. She loved to learn about them through the efforts of indexers who provided records of their lives. She was also an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
She is survived by her husband Mike and all of the children, except Chris who passed away in 1999. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
