Veda Carrie Lindsey Dew, 85, of Salt Lake City, passed away October 11, 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Veda was born in Silver Point, Tennessee to John and Bertha Lindsey on October 16, 1928, the fifth child of eight children. She attended high school at Baxter Seminary, in Baxter, Tennessee. She was a member of the Baxter Seminary women’s basketball team and graduated in 1946. She moved to Dearborn, Michigan, after high school where she met and married LaMar Dew, in 1950. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the proud parents of five lovely children. They were married for 64 years. Veda was a licensed nurse and practiced nursing for almost 20 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Veda enjoyed reading, gardening and quilting and spending time with her family.
Surviving family members include her husband, LaMar, son William S. Dew (Jolene) of Sandy, UT, son Lindsey P. Dew (Vicki) of Cottonwood Heights, UT, daughter Mary South, (Michael) of Rockwall, TX and daughter, Rachel Allen of Dallas, TX. Veda has 19 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren. Veda was preceded in death by her daughter Rebecca Dew Watts in March 2011.
Viewing will be held at the Holladay~Cottonwood Memorial Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, Holladay, UT on Wednesday, October 22, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be helOctober 23 at 12:00 noon at the Salt Lake Winder Stake, 4366 South and 1500 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84124.
