Veda Austin Hill

April 20, 1936 — May 13, 2020

Heaven gained a valiant warrior on May 13, 2020.  Veda Austin Hill was a beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.  Veda was born on April 20, 1936 to Matthias Wells Austin and Lovina Ruth Larkin in Snowville, Utah.  Veda and her six siblings were very close.  At the time of her death she was survived by all her siblings.  However, two days later, one of her brothers Joseph Austin met her in heaven with open arms.
She was married to her beloved soulmate Glen Richard Hill on May 29, 1964 in the Salt Lake Temple. Veda is preceded in death by her eternal companion Glen which has been patiently waiting for her with a handful of flowers from his undoubted beautiful garden. Together they had 5 children that will miss her greatly.  Glen Richard Hill Jr., Robert Matthias Hill, Randy Golden Hill (Maddie), Raymond Scott Hill and Laveda Hill.   She had 4 grandchildren: Breanna Nicole Deshazer (Steven), Skyler Golden Hill, Kaisley Love Hill and Aliyah Paige Hill.  She also has 2 great-grandchildren: Ronan and Denali Deshazer.  Veda’s family was everything to her and she loved any chance she had to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She unfortunately was unable to meet her newest great granddaughter (Denali) due to the restrictions that were in place at the time of her death, however, we know she will gladly serve as a guardian angel to her.
Veda has been determined to make the world a better place since day one.  Selfless sacrifice was a way of life for her.  Veda believed that singing makes everything better – regardless of talent.  Her wit and charm will be missed by those that loved her.  She lived by the values she taught for many years as a volunteer leader in the Boy Scouts.  She truly lived by the motto to “leave a place better than you found it”.  She did not turn a blind eye to trash on the ground or something that needed to be recycled.  She would even carry a putty knife around and frequently would kneel to scrape gum off the ground.  Once her children were of school age she worked for the Granite School District.  She loved the children and people she worked with.  She was also dedicated to the many church callings she had with the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints.  She was a very godly woman that lived by the commandments and couldn’t wait to be in the arms of her Heavenly Father again.
