Our loving and devoted mother, Valaine (Val) Hoggan Chapman, died at home surrounded by family on April 09, 2015 after a three year battle with breast cancer after being in remission for 28 years.
Valaine was born on March 28, 1940 in Salina, Utah to Donald Lawrence Hoggan and Iola Caroline Jensen. She grew up in Manti, Utah and graduated from Manti High School in 1958 before attending Snow College.
Valaine married Paul Henry Chapman and they had three children. Her greatest joy and love in life was her children and grandchildren. She attended numerous family sports events, school performances, and never missed a parent teacher conference. She was always a pillar of support, encouragement and strength.
Valaine was a stay at home Mom until her youngest child started school then returned to the workforce. She enjoyed people and was appreciated by all who worked with and worked for her. She retired in 2006 after periods of time working at LeVoy’s, Western Foods Service, The Delta Center and Jordan Commons Theater.
Valaine was artistic and loved working with her hands. She was an avid quilter and placed at the Utah State Fair in hand quilting. She enjoyed being outside and working in her garden. She was known for her wonderful cooking skills, homemade jams, and the best dill pickles.
