Troudy K. Dretke

August 12, 1929 — November 13, 2018

Our sweet loving wife, mother, Oma and Omi has returned to her eternal home on Tuesday, November 13, 2018.
Troudy K. Dretke was born August 12, 1929 in Stettin Germany. She was the daughter of Georg F. Kuehne and Margarete Schoening. She immigrated to the United States in 1953 with her husband and infant son Jack, to join her parents who lived here in Utah. She was a hard worker her entire life with her working career ending in retirement in 1998, when she retired as a Production Supervisor at Stone Container, a paper production company. She loved her job and the people she worked with.
She married Hans-Ulrich Dretke on March 31, 1983, whom she loved with all her heart and on March 31, 1992, they were sealed in the House of the Lord, the Salt Lake Temple. Ever since then, their love has made them inseparable. They did everything together from fishing and camping to traveling all over this beautiful country.
In 2001 they served an 18 month mission together for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints to Hamm, Germany. This mission opened her heart to Germany and its people. After they returned home and many years to follow, she longed to return to Hamm and visit all the people she served and grew to love. She served as a Young Women Counselor throughout her mission and learned to love the Young Women program. She often said that that was the best time of her life. Troudy loved her faith and served in various callings in her German Speaking Ward in Salt Lake City.
Troudy is survived by her husband Hans-Ulrich Dretke, son Jack (Cindy) Vosgerau, daughter Sylvia (Joe) Mattena, son Michael (Susan) Vosgerau, daughter Annegret (Wynn) Passey, her sister Renate (Dennis) Sherwood and 16 wonderful grandchildren and 31 beautiful great-grandchildren.
Troudy is preceded in death by her parents, grandsons Marcus and Rusty and great-granddaughters Jade Amaya and Macie Ann.
The family would also like to extend many thanks to all the aides and medical staff at the Summit Senior Memory Care and Brighton Hospice for all they did. We would also like to thank the staff at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery for their help and guidance in making the proper arrangements.
