Tommy Duran

November 22, 1944 — March 19, 2014

Our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend Tommy Elizio Duran passed away on March 19, 2014. He was born on November 22, 1944 in Monte Vista, Colorado to Diego Duran and Ruth Martinez. He married the love of his life Joy Covert on August 4, 1984. Together they had 4 grateful children who love and cherished the times spent with their dad. Tommy worked for U.D.O.T. for 11 years, and later retired from C.W. Silver. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and spending time with family and close friends but mostly being with his Vieja. He was a very knowledgeable man with pride, whose family meant the most to him. Behind his tough exterior he had a big heart and strong love for animals, especially his dogs Sabra, Nala and Baby. He will be greatly missed not only by family but by all who knew him.
Preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents Eduardo and Victoria Martinez.
Survived by his wife of 29 years, daughters Elizabeth (Manuel), Venessa (Paul), Monique (Mario), son Thomas Jr. and Monica Green; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, sisters Angie (Benjamin) Gallegos, Mary Sandoval and many other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, March 24, at the Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 E. 7800 S. A viewing will be held from 6-7:30 on Sunday, March 23 with a vigil service to be held from 7:30 – 8 at the mortuary. Dinner to follow the services at 4 pm on Monday at St. Anns, 2100 S. 500 E. The Duran family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Brian Drage and the staff at Highland Family Practice. ~Until I see you again, my Viejo~
