Tommia Kay Martinez

July 5, 1946 — December 14, 2020

Tommia Kay Yannie Martinez, age 74, passed on December 14, 2020, in West Jordan, Utah. She was born on July 5, 1946, in Fort Duchesne, Utah, to Edith Tonegates Yannie and Tommy Yannie. She married Emet Joe Martinez on September 11, 1970.
Kay was a happy and caring person. She always greeted everyone with her beautiful smile and a big hello. She loved to laugh and spend time with family and friends. Holidays were a favorite time for Kay, and all holidays had to be celebrated. She would put together the funniest Halloween costumes she could think of, and was always decorating her doorway for whichever holiday was near.
She liked to spend her time window shopping and at clearance tables and getting lost in the malls. Kay collected native art and she loved supporting native artists. Her interior decorating was warm and inviting. Her style was as beautiful as she was!
She enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends, and seeing the sights and stopping for casinos along the way.
Love at first sight is what she called her “Hunny Joe.” That is what they both know even after 50 years of marriage.
She enjoyed her job and retired after 24 years of service at ZCMI/Macy’s.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents Edith Tonegates Yannie and Tommy Yannie and her twin sister Thommia Zina Yannie. She is survived by her husband Joe Martinez, her sister Patricia (Roger) Hager, her brother Donald (Mary) Yannie, aunts and uncles, many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and many cousins.
