Thomas B. Swope, age 82, passed away July 19, 2014, at the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. He was born on July 23, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Margaret Beattie and Thomas M. Swope. He married Dorothy Massey, divorced and then remarried Janice L. Kopp.
Dad served in the US Army, Sgt. /Honor Guard, and was honored to serve. He was retired from the Union Pacific Rail Road after 30 years of service. After retirement he still worked playing pinochle at the senior centers throughout the valley. He also loved to go to Wendover and played a skilled game of Texas Hold ‘em, where he frequently won. Dad had a great sense of humor and always made you laugh. In his early years of retirement he enjoyed fishing and camping with his wife, Jan. He was a loving father and will be missed dearly.
He is survived by: sons, Thomas M. Swope (Shiela), Timothy D. Swope; Stepdaughter, Susan L. Cook; Stepson, Bill Bonner; grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: wife, Janice L. Swope; daughter, Torrie Ann Swope; Mother, Margaret Beattie; and father, Thomas M. Swope.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014 at Murray Memorial Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, from 5 to 7 pm
