Thelma Merlene Christensen Anderson Tanner, 74, beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother passed away on October 19, 2013. Merlene was born at home on June 10, 1939, in Ephraim, Utah to loving parents, Era L Stevenson and Merlin G. Christensen. Merlene married Kenneth Anderson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple April 27, 1957. They were the proud parents of six beautiful daughters. Later divorced. She married M. De Mar Tanner on April 15, 1983. Later sealed in the Jordan River LDS Temple. She graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City. Later she became an LPN where she was able to serve others with her great compassion and generous spirit. Merlene enjoyed being a nurse. Merlene cherished spending time with her loved ones at the family cabin. She adored her children and grand children and she will be greatly missed. She was very kind-hearted and always had a beautiful smile and was a friend to everyone. Merlene’s adventuresome spirit showed as she enjoyed traveling and was always up for a new journey. She was talented at gardening, crocheting, and cooking. Merlene was an avid reader, who loved to learn. She enjoyed classical music and playing the piano. She also had a small crafting business where she was able to share her many talents. She is survived by: her husband M. De Mar Tanner; children, Robin (Tom) Wheatley, Kathy Burton, Sandra (Clark) Butler, Mindy (Colin) Short, Randy (Jan) Tanner, Kay (John) Tillman, Liz Ayers, Tom (Stephanie) Tanner; her sisters, Lucille Bearden and Janet Grimes; 37 grandchildren and many beloved great-grandchildren. Merlene was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers, Don and Dale Christensen; daughters, Wendie L. Bond and Kristy J. Anderson. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24, at the LDS Eastridge Ward House, 1250 East 4800 South, Murray, UT at 12 pm, the viewing will precede the funeral at 10:00 to 11:45 am.
