Thelma Olson

November 1, 1916 — December 12, 2013

“Life is eternal, and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.”
Thelma was born November 1, 1916. She married (and later divorced) Bill Patterson. She married Ernest Olson on her 32nd birthday in 1948. Thelma died of natural causes on December 12, 2013.
Thelma loved life and loved to laugh, with a sense of humor that was second to none. She loved to sing and did so as she worked. Thelma loved nature, she cultivated beautiful flower gardens, enjoyed hiking and horseback riding, fed the wild birds and tamed the wild kittens (Spooky), puppies (Pagan) and goats (Pet). Thelma was an avid reader and was always current on local and world events. She loved the LDS gospel and delighted in teaching it. She loved to fly with her husband and perform aeronautical stunts (a handy skill to have now that she is an angel). All children loved Thelma and she devoted herself to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She dearly loved us all. Thelma taught each of us the value of being honest, kind, charitable, and of working hard. She was always the first to step forward and help someone in need. Thelma, we will be forever grateful that you were a part of our lives. You are the very best part of each of us. We love you so much and you will be missed dearly until the day we cross over that horizon to meet you again. Thelma was preceded in death by parents Ada and Robert Swensen; siblings Eunice, Merrill, Leonard, Shirley and Chad; husband Ernest; son Martin; and grandchildren Patrick and Joyce. She is survived by sons Jack, Neil, and Steven; daughters Kay and Sharlene; grandchildren Christine, Chuck, Colby, Damien, Daren, Dee, Geoff, Kathy, Kristi, Michael, Morgan, Paul, Ricky, Sarah, Shelby, Valerie and Whitney; great grandchildren Aiden, Alexa, Alexandria, Alexx, Brooklyn, Cortney, Ethan, Ileena, John-Paul, Keira, Leela, Logan, Lynden, Michal, Nick, Shantel and Zoe. Please join us at Redwood Memorial (6500 South Redwood Road) for a graveside dedication Friday, December 20th at 3:30 PM.
