Thelma Mae Stephensen

November 20, 1932 — March 29, 2016

Thelma Mae Stephensen went to be with the lord on Tuesday March 29, 2016 at her home in Norman, Oklahoma after battling cancer for several months.  She was born on November 20, 1932 in Bells, Texas to Alma M. Ashford and Violet Pearl (Smith) Ashford.  As a young girl she moved to Sandy, Utah with her family where she later met and married her high school sweetheart Mark Worlton Stephensen on February 21, 1952.  Together they had three sons.
Thelma was a homemaker and later spent time traveling and working with her husband who was an over the road truck driver.  Thelma enjoyed spending time crafting and sewing, playing the organ, doing genealogy indexing for the Mormon church, watching old western movies and shows and playing Wii games.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alma M. Ashford and Violet Pearl (Smith) Ashford, her infant brother Melvin, her twin sister Elma Fae (Lang) Ashford, her brother Charles Ray Ashford and her husband Mark Worlton Stephensen.
She is survived by her sons Jeffrey Mark Stephensen of Reno, Nevada, Willard Alma Stephensen and wife Kathy Stephensen of Oklahoma City, and Bruce Kelly Stephensen and Karen Keys of Yukon, Oklahoma. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.
Thelma was a long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
