Tharon Jesse Hinckley died peacefully, at home, the morning of December 30, 2016. Born July 28, 1926 (90 years old) the oldest of 8 close-knit siblings to Silas Jesse and Zena Althea Westover Hinckley in Rexburg, Idaho. Attended Madison High School (Rexburg) and graduated from East High School (Salt Lake). Drafted in the Army at the end of WWII, serving in the Philippines after the war ended. Then served in the North Central States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Married Barbara Derbyshire in the Salt Lake Temple on April 7th 1949. They had 8 children together. Maintained activity in the Church his entire life including 2 additional stake missions and many other positions. Retired after 37 years with Utah Power and Light, then 20 years with Harmons part time. Dad never missed a match, game or performance if he was not working and always supported us kids. He loved fishing and reading, but was never more happy than with his progeny. Tharon leaves behind 7 children, Tharoll (Myrna) Bonnie, Lynn (Teri), Bryon (Susan), Eva Ana (Philip), Annette, and Cynthia (Lin), as well as sisters Donna (Gerald), Erma (Al), Ila (Ken), brothers Garth (Ladonna) and Lowell (Margaret) numerous grandkids and great grandkids. Proceeded in death by beloved wife, Barbara, son Arthur, parents, brothers Arlo and Reed, and grandson Ryan Fordham. Friends may call January 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 with funeral services at 1:00 on the 3rd . Both events are at the Kearns Stake Center, 4260 West Sam’s Blvd (5215 South) Kearns. Interment to follow services at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.Service Information
