1964 Tracy 2024

Teresa (Tracy) Anderson

February 25, 1964 — November 23, 2024

Salt Lake City

Teresa Anderson (Tracy), of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on 11/23/2024 after a long and fulfilling life. While we mourn the loss, we take comfort knowing she is no longer suffering.

Tracy, the eldest daughter of Jon and Klyda Anderson, was born on February 25, 1964 in Tooele, Utah. She graduated from Orem High School in 1982 and went on to Evans Beauty School where she earned her cosmetology license. Tracy was known for being a hard worker and excelling at most everything she tried. In 1995, she began working for Franklin Covey. She loved her job so much she stayed for almost 29 years.

In 1997 Tracy met the first love of her life, Nyika Okerwa. The two fell deeply in love. For several years, they did volunteer work for Somalian and Sudanese refugees. Among other things, Tracy helped with job interviews, grocery shopping, and medical appointments for refugees acclimating to a new life; she relished the opportunity to use her talents to help those in need.

In 2004, Tracy met the second love of her life, her son Austin. She loved him fiercely and doted on him from day one. She was a great mother who taught him to be hard working and independent. Her face lit up when he came into the room--Austin was her world. She was so proud of his accomplishments and the remarkable young man he became.

Tracy loved her family and would make it a point to tell them often. Growing up as the eldest daughter, she took on the role of second mother to 8 brothers and sisters. She took this job seriously both as child and throughout adulthood. She was a non-judgmental listener and an endless source of advice for her siblings. Her family and friends knew her door was always open—literally. Her house was considered by many a soft place to fall when things were hard.

Tracy truly embodied the best of qualities of a wife, mother, sister, and friend.

Tracy was predeceased in death by her parents, Jon and Klyda Anderson. She is survived by her husband, Nyika Simon Okerwa, son Lehituimoi Austin Okerwa, 8 siblings, and many nieces and nephews.
