Leann Koncar, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend passed away February 15, 2018 at the age of 80. Leann was born May 6, 1937 to Anna Cammans and Harold B. Brinton in Salt Lake City, UT. She was named for her paternal grandmother and was the fourth of six children.
Growing up in Salt Lake, Leann was a tom-boy, often the first person picked for baseball games. As a young teen she worked at her father’s store “Hal‘s Market” as well as the old St. Mark’s Hospital. She graduated from West High School in 1955 where she and childhood friend and sister-of-heart, Robin Harden formed the “#1 Club”, declaring themselves “more beautiful and smarter than the rest”. This friendship continued as they married, had families and continued in their lives.
Married Ray Koncar on August 8, 1956 and they had seven children. Her greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren. Leann established an individual relationship with each of her grandchildren, watching and caring for them whenever she could, and always shared her time and love freely. Leann and Ray later Divorced.
Leann attended Brigham Young University for two years studying nursing. Throughout her life, she continued to work in healthcare, as a CNA as well as data entry and as a unit clerk. She loved the work and made wonderful friends, Mary-Ellen Cardon and Gina Massey. She also worked at OC Tanner where she met her dear friend Evelyn Weeks.
She loved a good joke and had a great, often wily, sense of humor. She loved Diet Pepsi, almost all Mexican food, the Utah Jazz, Western Music, Nat King Cole and most importantly, Chardonnay!
She is survived by her children, Michael, Kevin (Tammee), Lauri Taylor (Brad), Vicki Rossi (Tony), Lance, Troy and Kole (Carrie), 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, her sister Connie Manwill (Paul), sister-in-law Peigi Brinton and numerous nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by her loving parents and her siblings, Barbara Brinton, Halene Hiatt, Hal Brinton and Marty Brinton.
The family would like to thank Hearts for Hospice (in particular, Curtis, Evan and James) and Spring Creek Care Center for all of the love and care that they have provided. Celebration of life on February 24, from 4-6 p.m. at Memorial Mortuary (5850 S 900 E, Murray, UT).Service Information
