Teddy Leroy Gunderson

December 12, 1938 — July 24, 2022

Our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at home July 24, 2022 holding the hand of his dear grandson, after a brief battle with cancer.
Teddy was born December 12, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Raymond Gunderson and Mary Elizabeth Westenskow Gunderson. He married his sweetheart, Bonnie Glenn Gunderson, November 14, 1957: later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Teddy was known for his love of fishing, camping, and anything that had to do with the great outdoors. He was greatly dedicated to his family and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren fishing on his boat. He had a crooked smile, easy laugh, and a wonderful sense of humor and loved to sing and whistle. He sang with the Choral Arts Society Choir for 20 years and cherished every memory he had with them. He also served briefly in the Utah Army National Guard.
He worked as a pressman for over fifty years while simultaneously laboring on the farm, raising and milking goats, tending to chickens, harvesting grain, and spent many weekends teaching his children how to fish and hunt. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, loved his Savior, and served in many callings.
Survived by his loving children: Robert (Charlene), Raymond, Christine (Todd) VanDeBrake, Ronald (Michelle), Teddy (Margaret), Scott (Emily), and Simon (Jetaime) Manu; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Donna (Spud) Hansen. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at the chapel located at 7511 South 2700 West, West Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 at the chapel from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Saturday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM. Interment will be in the West Jordan City Cemetery.
