Ted Lewis Stevens

September 14, 1924 — August 31, 2016

Salt Lake City, UT-Our loving husband, father, and grandpa, Ted Lewis Stevens was reunited with his sweetheart Mildred on, August 31, 2016. Ted was born September 14, 1924, in Redmond, UT to Wilford and Ruby Stevens, he was one of seven children. He married Mildred Bertha Olsen on February 27, 1946 and later sealed in the Manti Temple.
Ted is survived by their 3 children: Lewis (Sue) Stevens, Decatur, Texas; Judy (Doug) Hawks, West Valley; and Gary Stevens, West Jordan; 12 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren; 2 sisters Dorothy Kate and Valleen. He is preceded in death by his sweetheart Mildred; parents; 2 brothers Dan and David Farrell; 2 sisters Lorraine and Rhea; and Axel Hawks (great grandson).
Ted served his country for 3 years (1943-1946) as a Technician Fourth Grade, in the 743D Engineer Heavy Shop Company. He served in New Guinea and the Philippines where he was awarded the following metals: World War II Victory Medal; American Campaign Medal; Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal; Good Conduct Medal; Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star. Ted faithfully served in many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Ted served in the Bishopric, Ward & Stake Clerks and Ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple. He was very knowledgeable about Church Policy. He worked at Freeds Motor Company for many years as a Parts Manager to support his family. Ted enjoyed spending time with his family, camping and square dancing. Ted will be remembered as a dedicated son; caring brother; adoring husband; gentle father; loving grandfather; and friend to all.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 16th, 11 a.m. at the Cannon 1st Ward, 934 West Fremont Ave. Family and friends may visit Thursday, September 15th, 7-9 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, and Friday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment will follow the services at Redwood Memorial Estates.
The family would like to thank Caring Hearts In-Home Care and the VA Hospital staff (Hospice) for the tender care given to Ted.
