Tan Quang Phung

Tan Quang Phung passed away peacefully surrounded by his daughter and son by his side after an aggressive battle with cancer on May 10, 2021. He was 54 years old.
Tan was born in Saigon, Vietnam on July 13, 1966. He escaped Vietnam in search of a better future in 1986. For one week, he bravely faced the sea and pirate attacks before reaching Indonesia then arrived to the refugee camp in the Philippines. He finally began to resettle and readjust to his new life in Utah in 1987.
Tan worked incredibly hard for his family and loved ones. He never complained and faced his trials with strength, dignity and peace. He fought hard for everything he had and he never gave up hope.
One of Tan’s biggest treasures were his grandson Isaac Vinh Phuoc and granddaughter Celeste Mai. Tan loved his O.C. Tanner family, his table tennis family from all over the world, and of course, he loved the lottery.
Tan is survived by his daughter Diana Phung and son David Phung, his grandson Isaac Vinh Phuoc and granddaughter Celeste Mai, his loving wife Trang Thuy Thanh Nguyen, and by many loving family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Trieu Phung, mother Ben Thi Le, and brothers Hiep Phung and Nam Phung.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the medical and health care team at St. Mark’s Hospital and at Huntsman Cancer Institute. Because of you, Tan’s family was able to spend more time with him.
