Tamara “Tammy” Hortin

August 15, 1959 — October 11, 2021

Tamara (Tammy) Hortin ~8/15/1959 – 10/11/2021
Tammy Hortin was a tough cookie. She rarely sat still during her very busy 62 years, because she was forever busy serving her family and those she loved. The only time she would sit down was to play card games or board games with the grandkids, or cuddle and read with the  grandkids.
Tammy met her best friend, Kyle, at Hillcrest High School, and they married on August 15, 1980. Tammy and Kyle loved each other every day for the next 41 years. They spent their time camping, hiking, watching Utah football or basketball, or cheering for Stockton and Malone with the Jazz. If you were looking for Tammy, you could always find her with family. Whether she was at a family swim party, playing and winning card games, a trip to the family cabin, or any family event — Tammy was there.  She also made everyone around her feel like family. She spent hours on the phone every morning talking/counseling to friends and family. She diligently served The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints through numerous callings over the years, in young womens, relief society, and primary.  She made lifelong friends in every calling and interaction in her life. She also made friends with countless souls that entered her brothers’ pawn shop. She loved to organize and spend time with her brothers and friends there. Tammy made time for everyone. She would call or text or send cards, which made everyone feel so special. Her memory will live on in the stories and lessons shared to her children and children’s children, and within the endless crew of motley pals who were lucky enough to call her a friend in this lifetime. We know that Tammy is surrounded by loved ones and probably teaching all of them card games.
She is preceded in death by no one because she did everything in life first and silently best. She is survived by her husband Kyle, son Jeff (Mary Anne) daughter Mikelle (Brandon), daughter Marcie (Parker) and grandchildren Eli, Bailey, Barrett, Morgan, Griffin, and Theodora. Also surviving are her parents, Hy and Elaine Reich (Kevin, Becky, Mark, Brenda, Brody)
