Tae Sun Hong

September 1, 1930 — August 13, 2022

Tae Sun Hong, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Meadow Peak Rehabilitation Center in the company of his beloved wife and his sister-in-law.
He was born in Pyongyang, North Korea, to parents Chong Gun Hong and Young Gun Kang. Tae Sun was the fifth of seven children. At age 17, he fled to South Korea during the Korean War and was only reunited with his older brother, Ik Sun Hong, in South Korea.
Tae Sun was a hard working business man. In 1963 he married his sweetheart, Bok Ran Kim, in Busan, South Korea. Their friends nicknamed them the “Lovebird couple” or in Korean, “ingkko bubu” because they were always seen together. Throughout his life, he loved dancing, hiking, swimming, traveling and good food, especially his wife’s cooking; and he also prized a little dog named Jasper and his cars that he kept meticulously maintained.
Tae Sun and his wife immigrated to the state of Utah, in June of 1980, where he subsequently earned his US citizenship. He worked for years at Edo Western Corporation, then Becton Dickson Company and finally retired from working at Merit Medical Systems. He found peace and fellowship in attending the Korean Presbyterian Church of Salt Lake City, where he received much assistance from Reverend Young Jae Kwon and congregation.
He is survived by his wife, Bok Ran (Kim) Hong, and sisters-in-law, Chom Nan (Kim) Davis and Enum Jun (Choi) Kim, along with his many nieces and nephews. Tae Sun Hong was a quiet, kind, and giving man who touched many people’s lives. He will be greatly missed.
