Sylvia Pehrson

December 17, 1917 — April 4, 2015

Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great, great–grandmother, sister and friend, age 97, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2015 with her sweet daughter by her side. She was born December 17, 1917, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Fred and Julia Nydegger. She married Melvin John Pehrson, March 1, 1941, in the Salt Lake Temple. He died April 22, 1996. She is survived by her children, Roy (Linda), Reynold (Pam), Fred, Mark (Janice), Gil (Kim), Cindy (David) Allen, 26 grand-children, 68 great grand-children and 10 great, great grand-children.
My Mom — What An Amazing Woman! She was an excellent cook, a wonderful seamstress and a loving, kind, service-oriented lady. She sang in the “G” Trio at Granite High School and had a beautiful soprano voice. She served in many callings in the LDS church and had a true testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Up until the last month of her life, she attended church regularly. Even though she couldn’t hear a word, she knew that’s where she should be.
I had the opportunity of caring for her in our home for the last five plus years. What a privilege is was for me, her only daughter, to serve my Mother, who for all her life, served others. My five brothers were very faithful in visiting her in our home regularly.
No amount of words can do justice to my Mama, who loved everyone and everyone loved her. We are all better for knowing Sylvia Nydegger Pehrson.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Heartwood Home Care and Hospice for their exceptional and loving care for our Mother during her last two weeks.
