Sylvia Elaine Gygi Albertson, age 99, died on November 16, 2021 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born on June 8, 1922, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Herman Gygi and Jennie Faldmo. She married T. Dan Albertson in the Salt Lake Temple on April 27, 1942.
Sylvia graduated from Granite High School in 1940. She remained close to her friends from Madison School and Granite throughout her life. The girls held monthly “Club Meetings” in their homes and in later years they met with their husbands at Cottonwood Mall every morning and became known as the “Mall Group.” The grandkids loved going to the mall with them and laughing at the “old people jokes.”
Sylvia was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved serving in many callings throughout her life. The Church and her family were the most important things in her life. She often put everyone else’s needs before her own. She loved her family and she was deeply loved in return. She will be greatly missed.
Sylvia loved shopping, cooking, reading books of every kind. She faithfully read her scriptures every day. She enjoyed caring for the flowers in her yard and she and her husband Dan, had fun golfing with friends and family.
She loved to travel to see her grandchildren in California, Virginia and New York. She traveled to Norway and Hawaii and many other places through the U.S. She was always ready to go at a moment’s notice. She was a social butterfly and was often the last to leave a party much to Dan’s chagrin. She lived a long and full life and died peacefully at home. She was ready to go be with Dan.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Cottonwood Creek. We would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Inspiration Hospice who treated her with respect and love.
Sylvia is survived by her daughters: Gloria Olsen (Neil), Sheila Gustaveson (Douglas); Grandchildren: Alexis Jennie Wood, Scott Gustaveson (Anne), Sarah Larsen (Dane), Darren Gustaveson (Kristi), Danielle Teel; Great-Grandchildren: Dallas Larsen, Miles Gustaveson, Sierra Larsen, Eleanor Teel. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Dan; her parents Herman and Jennie Gygi; Siblings: Herman, Milton, Etta, Lee, Constance and George.
