A loving spirit has departed this earth. Sylvia Priwo Bontoft Cooper passed away on December 27, 2014, due to complications after open-heart surgery. She was born on May 16, 1960, to Sigrid Mauritz Priwo and Erich Kurt Priwo in Salt Lake City, Utah. Sylvia lived in Texas a number of years but always considered Utah her home.
In 1986 Sylvia married Kenrick Bontoft, and they had a son, Michael. Kenrick and Sylvia later divorced but remained life-long friends. Married Ron Cooper, later divorced.
Sylvia spent her entire career working in billing departments of law firms. The last few years she worked at TraskBritt in Salt Lake City. Sylvia often mentioned how much she enjoyed her job there and appreciated the wonderful friendships she made.
Prior to her heart surgery, Sylvia fought and won a courageous battle against cancer. Her spirits remained high as she met each new challenge.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her son, Michael, her mother, Sigrid, brother Fred Priwo (Sheila), sister Monica Emerzian (Steve), and numerous nieces, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She shared the last couple of years with her sweetheart, Richard Stamm, and little pup Morty.
Sylvia loved all animals and rescued a number of cats and dogs over her lifetime. She was a huge football fan, especially of her beloved Houston Texans.
A gathering will be held on Friday, January 2, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., in the fellowship hall at Christ Lutheran Church, 240 East 5600 South, Murray, Utah, for all who wish to visit with the family.
